Plot: To fulfill a vow to a dying companion a gang leader vows to defeat other criminal groups. In 1985, Devaratha "Deva" summons his boyhood buddy Vardharaja "Vardha" Manaar, son of Khansaar's ruler Raja Manaar, to the city of Khansaar so that the latter might identify the person responsible for stealing Deva's nose-ring, an heirloom from his family.
At first, Vardha refuses to admit anything since he doesn't want Deva to start trouble, but then he admits that his stepbrother Rudra was the one responsible. Rudra is asked by Deva what he can do to help Vardha retrieve it. In a caustic manner, Rudra dares Deva to defeat a wrestling champion. Deva uses a cable to bring down the wrestler. Rudra returns Vardha the ring as a token of his admiration after Deva's victory.
In Tinsukia, Deva (Prabhas) and his mother have a carefree existence, both shrouded in mystery. The peace is broken when a gang of thugs seek out Aadhya, played by Shruti Haasan, who has just arrived in town. Deva follows the group and realizes it’s the plot of his closest buddy Varadharaja Mannar (Prithviraj Sukumaran) in Khansaar city. The battle grows, creating major issues. Aadhya, who is he? What connects her to Varadharaj? What sparked the hostility between the two closest friends? The movie unveils the solutions.
